Congratulations to six individuals who were recently recognized as winners of the inaugural Jim Ham Scholarship awards.
Scholarships were presented by the McCoy Group in memory of Jim Ham, Stoops Freightliner-Quality Trailer’s former vice president of operations, who passed away in April 2020. Awards, ranging from $1,000 to $2,000, were presented to those who have demonstrated positive, uplifting attitude, a trait Ham commonly displayed, to a problem solve at a time of conflict.
Scholarships were awarded to those who are furthering their education through the Stoops or Truck Country training programs, a technical school, a traditional college, or one entering the military.
The following individuals were presented with awards:
- Nathanael Abney and Shea Ruzkowski were each presented with $2,000 scholarships. Nathanael, who is a Stoops employee, is currently enrolled in the Stoops technician training program, and Shea plans to attend Indiana University South Bend to pursue a degree in nursing.
- Sophia Fuhrmann, Hannah Beers, Jade Williams and Alex Mucho were awarded $1,000 scholarships. Sophia plans to study science at the University of Wyoming this fall, while Hannah Beers anticipates studying biochemistry when she enrolls at the University of Rio Grande this fall. Jade Williams attends Southwestern Michigan College to pursue a career in the medical field, Alexa plans to attend Indiana University Purdue University – Indianapolis to study dental hygiene.
