The next generation of vocational trucks is here.
Western Star recently unveiled the its all-new 49X unit during an online event in late September, with a promise of revolutionizing the vocational truck market.
Several Truck Country and Stoops dealership teams helped celebrated the launch of the new Western Star by hosting customer watch parties.
Built from the ground up, the 49X delivers maximum versatility in a purpose-built package that features a stronger, but lighter chassis that comes equipped with the new X-series cab. Additionally, the trucks feature the new Detroit DT12 Vocational series of transmissions and industry-leading Detroit Assurance suite of safety systems provide for enhanced safety, improved productivity and maximum uptime.
Among the many highlights of the 49X, is the reduced weight. In comparable spec’ing to the Western Star’s current 4900 model, the 49X features weight savings of up to 350 pounds.
Under its hood, the 49X debuts the all-new Detroit DT12 Vocational series of automated transmissions, which come available as either the DT12-Vor or the DT12-VX.
The DT12 Vocational series of transmissions include side PTO capabilities that allow for added flexibility and different applications for all types of terrain. One feature includes a Rock-Free Mode, which allows the 49X to free itself from wheel-stuck situations, while another feature, an Off-Road Mode, enables smooth driving in extreme terrain.
Truck Country and Stoops anticipate having models at their dealerships later this fall, with ordering starting this winter. First delivers are expected to begin in early 2021.
